How to Build a LinkedIn Profile That Works for You

Your LinkedIn profile is often the first thing a recruiter, client or event organiser sees. Treat it as your professional shopfront.

Write a headline that says what you offer

Go beyond your job title. “Marketing Executive | Helping B2B brands grow through content and data” tells people why they should connect.

Use the About section to tell your story

Write in the first person. Explain what you do, who you help, what you’re proud of and what you’re looking for next.

Show achievements in your experience

  • Add two or three results for each role
  • Include projects, media or presentations where relevant
  • Keep dates and job titles consistent with your CV

Build credibility

List skills that match the roles you want and ask colleagues you’ve worked closely with for recommendations.

Be visible

Comment thoughtfully, share what you’re learning and post about your work. Consistency matters more than volume.
